Operation Access began serving residents of Sonoma County in 2001. Many of the patients referred to OA live in rural areas in Sonoma, often work in agriculture, and have no health insurance benefits through their employers. Currently in Sonoma, there are four participating medical centers, two provider groups, 11 referring community clinics, and 74 active medical volunteers. Operation Access is also proud to collaborate with the Sonoma County Medical Association's Specialty Access Initiative, whose mission is to improve access to specialty care among the low-income population in Sonoma County.
