What We Do
We Match Patients in Need of Care with Medical Professionals Who Want to Help.
We provide outpatient surgical procedures and diagnostic services free of charge.
We improve people’s health and quality of life.
We provide timely, planned care so patients do not end up in the emergency room.
We believe everyone deserves quality health care.
We make medical volunteering easy and close to home.
How We Work
We link primary care clinics with our volunteer network
Primary Care Clinics
Uninsured patient visits primary care provider (PCP).
PCP refers patients to us for care requiring a specialist.
Operation Access
We screen patients for eligibility, match to a volunteer specialist, schedule appointments, and provide interpretive services.
We communicate information back to PCP.
Volunteer Network
Volunteers donate their time and skills.
Partner facilities and medical groups donate all charges as charity care.
People We Serve
We provide surgical and specialty care for people who need it.
Our patients are low income, uninsured, and face structural and systemic inequality. To be eligible for our program, patients must earn less than 400% of the federal poverty level, and most earn considerably less.
Many are unable to qualify for Medi-Cal or Covered California because of their immigration status, age, or income. Earning less than a living wage, our patients cannot afford health insurance coverage, especially because affordable Covered California plans are not available for undocumented people.
When they need surgery or specialty care, they suffer disproportionately. Many choose to forgo the care that would help them get back on their feet because the cost is too high.
We provide a solution. Our medical volunteers donate their time and expertise to treat people in need of care.
“I now value how important it is to prevent illnesses and to stop being scared to get care. I am really thankful for everyone from this program. It felt as though they really cared about my health.”
